Hekili Point, SW Maui.
I made this photograph during our first road trip, Monday, Sept. 2, 2002. Ed, Kurt and I spent the daytime circling the entire west end of the island. With all the photo-taking stops, and dips in the beach, the drive took more than 5 hours.
First time Ed and I have ever been to Hawaii, went with our friend Kurt and stayed one week. We photographed sunset at 4 different locations on the island.

Makena Beach is near Makena State park, location of one of the island's black-sand beaches: Monday, Sept. 2, about an hour before sunset.

"The Road to Hana," NE Maui, Hawai'i.
Spent nearly 7 hours driving to Hana, way on the east end of the island, and barely 2 hours getting back to Kihei. Made this photo on a hiking trail at Kanaha Beach Park, Wednesday, Sept. 4. This was our longest drive on the trip. I think Ed, Kurt and I photographed sunset from our condo's 'backyard.'

I made this photograph at sunset after the long trip to Hana. Walked out the door to the condo and directly to the water behind the condo. Wednesday, Sept. 4. After our long drive to Hana earlier that day, Ed, Kurt and I made our sunset photos and that was it for the day.
