my resume

This is a collection of my favorite photos of rock and jazz musicians.
Some of the musicians depicted here are well-paid and highly successful. Others have made scarcely a dime, but make music either for sheer pleasure or to become well-paid and highly successful.

Mozart, Hollywood, CA., 1992.
This guitarist played in a band called Mozart, a band so full of themselves, that after four songs, they left the stage, finished for the night.

David Sanborn, Sedona, AZ., 1999.
I made this photograph at the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks festival on a vacation back to Arizona, 6 months after moving back from Prescott to SoCal.
Eddie Van Halen, Phoenix, AZ., 1998.
I shot 11 rolls of film at this concert, 10 of the rolls had images only of Eddie. This image is actually a black and white image, but I mistakenly left on the color setting as I scanned the image. Nice mistake.
Geddy Lee, Phoenix, AZ., 1996.
In November 1996 I photographed RUSH, my favorite band, at America West Arena in Phoenix. I made this image of bass player Geddy Lee as he plays a few lines on the keyboard during "The Big Money," the second song in the band's nearly 3-hour concert. I swear he mugged the camera as I made the image.
C.O.R., Prescott, AZ 1995.
One of many local bands I photographed in 6 years in Prescott. This is the bassist of a Christian band C.O.R. (I believe the acronym for Concept Of Reality).
Randy, the Marquee, Garden Grove, CA., 1992.
My favorite image of Randy on stage. It shows his tendency to stand isolated as he plays.
John, La Habra, CA., 1993.
John accidently drank some paint thinner in the midst of our shoot. The thinner was in an old bottle of snapple, and apparently, his girlfriend refrigerated it, thinking it was water. Well, he was fortunate enough to have spat it out before swallowing any. The shoot continued ... and went well.
Ken, Fullerton, CA., 1993.
Randy's friend Ken, guitarist from Zen.
Perry, Fullerton, CA., 1992.
Perry played bass better than any previous Shadow bassist. And better than any Shadow bassist since.
Geddy Lee, Phoenix, AZ., 1996.
This image of Geddy was made during "Driven," the third song of the night's set. Great bassist. Great bass lines in the song.
Steve Morse, San Juan Capistrano, CA., 1988.
I made this image of Steve Morse of the Dixie Dregs at the Coachhouse in San Juan Capistrano, back when the Coachhouse allowed fans to make photographs of their favorite musicians. This night in August was the first time I ever photographed a musician onstage. I had been making photographs for less than a year.
Accordion player, Seattle, 1997.
Making a dollar one of the few ways he knows how, this accordion player entertains in Seattle.
Hinged, Fullerton, CA., 1992.
This singer, guitarist entertains the crowd at the former Goodies nightclub in Fullerton, the place I made each of the Fullerton musician images.
Eric, Prescott Valley, AZ., 1995.
Eric was a singer and guitarist and songwriter I knew back in Prescott. This image was made at a soundcheck for a Saturday night show.
